BTS, the world’s largest K-pop group, now has the world’s largest app.
Just hours after its release on Wednesday, June 26, “BTS World” is a mobile simulation game that allows fans to virtually become South Korean pop stars manager on Apple’s App Store charts in multiple countries.
The free-to-play “BTS World” game will hit the U.S. early on June 26 on iOS and Google Play. Time (about 2 a.m. PT) and 6 p.m. Korean Standard Time. By 7 p.m. iPhone downloads ranked No. 1 overall in the game, according to research firm App All.
Within 24 hours, “BTS World” topped Apple’s App Store charts in 25 countries, including South Korea, Japan, and all Southeast Asia markets, according to Sensor Tower App Intelligence data. It is currently one of the top five applications in an additional 36 countries. In China, “BTS World” ranks 50th overall, but is the country’s 8th iPhone game with downloads to Sensor Tower.
“BTS World”, started by the Korean gaming company, NetMarble in association with the K-pop group, with the ultimate goal of promoting Septem on its way to superstardom. Netmarble has released the game on Apple’s App Store and Google Play in 176 countries worldwide.
The game features over 10,000 exclusive new photos and 100 video clips, and players can interact with BTS as a game manager through various one-to-one interactive content.
Along with the main “BTS World” story, the game features individual stories that every BTS member sees as the main character. Big Hit Entertainment was formed in 2013 by a seven-member team comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Vi, and Jungkook.
Netmarble has announced that the “BTS World” original soundtrack, a new title song from “Heartbeat (BTS World OST)”, will be available exclusively in the game’s introduction and main lobby for the first 48 hours, complete with “BTS”. The World OST album comes out on June 28. The album highlights the theme songs and three-unit songs of each member of the game and “All Night (BTS World OST Part 3).” ”- which led to the start of the game earlier this month.
Meanwhile, BTS’s latest film, “Bring the Soul: The Movie,” will be released worldwide on August 7, focusing on the band’s final days of their “Love Yourself” tour in Europe.
